BACK TO THE FUTURE: THE MARCH OF THE OUTER PLANETS 2024 AND ON

There is a saying…

“plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose”

This little quip is often attributed to a French literary critic, Jean-Baptiste Alphonse Karr. It was written in the January 1849 issue of his journal Les Guêpes (“The Wasps”). Possibly, he may have gotten it from Charles-Maurice de Talleyrand-Périgord (1754–1838).

Essentially, it translates as ‘the more things change, the more they are the same’.

But what about our time? Is this philosophical and somewhat depressing pronouncement true today, with massive energy shifts occurring all around? The answer to that question is found not in the constant but in the variable. The constant is the flow of energies according to a divine plan and adhering to a divine timetable. We humans are the variable in the equation.  How we interact with the natural, divinely ordered flow of energy is the determining factor. I believe people call it FREE WILL.  

If we open our eyes; if we open our hearts; if we allow divine energy to flow into us and guide us, then we will prove those French thinkers wrong. But, if we continue to interact with each other, and according to the flow of the energy, in the same old patterns as we have thus far done, then the French philosophers will wink at us through the centuries and say…’told you so!’

Nevertheless, these times, our times, are interesting and singular on many levels. Astrology is all about cycles, some rapid and some slow moving. The solar system is like a massive 3D construct which is moving according to a carefully created and orderly pattern. We can focus on the rapidly moving cycles to better align on an individual and personal level while the slower and longer cycles give insight into collective shift and change. Starting in 2024, a massive combination of cycles began to intersect. As the three outer planets began to make ready to shift into new energy, the more rapidly moving inner planets joined in this cosmic dance. This resulted in a confluence of forces that has not been felt for several centuries. Again, feeling it is one thing, but acting in harmony with it is quite another.

The slow-moving outer planets demonstrate what might manifest over the next few decades. Pluto is the planet that symbolizes potentially disruptive but ultimately regenerative transformation. All that is rotten can suddenly be revealed when Pluto moves through any particular energy. Revelation can lead to transformative action and, finally, to the initiation of radically new approaches and strategies in the area in question. Pluto has been moving through Capricorn since the mid- 2000’s. The governmental, economic, and supervisory systems that maintain global order (so-called) have been run through the mill. So much corruption has been uncovered that some of the general public are now disillusioned and skeptical about what the authorities tell them. Others prefer to ignore what they hear because it may erode their sense of confidence in their leaders, and then there are those who either refuse to hear or conclude that the information that they are receiving about corrupt systems of governance is false. All of these responses align with the active energy of Pluto; that is, some respond proactively, some do not respond at all and yet others respond reactively and actually fight to maintain that which has been found to be false.

For the last 14 years Neptune, the planet that demonstrates the connection between humanity and the divine has been moving through Pisces. The very nature of our collective connection to creator, to that higher power, to almighty God has been washed by the Neptunian waters of illusion, disillusion, deception and revelation. This is a combo, Neptune in Pisces, that emphasizes the nature of humankind’s alignment to all that we cannot ‘see’. In Pisces we confront our fundamental relationship with the divine, whether it be positive and strong or negative and debilitating. How close are we to the divine? How far away? Can we find truth or are we adhering to the lie?

Uranus, the planet that demonstrates radical and sudden change has been moving through Taurus for the last 7 years. What has changed in your life in the area of core values? What is meaningful to you today that was not even on your radar 7 years ago? How do you feel about the natural world and your place in it? Are you a steward of our planet? What does that mean in your mind? Do you feel secure and safe or have you begun to feel uncertain about your continued existence? Taurus is the energy that represents fundamental survival both materially and spiritually.

All of these energies, Capricorn, Pisces, and Taurus, are yin energies. They draw into the center of the soul. They are passive, not active in that they assimilate and integrate energetically. They are consolidating AFTER the action that was taken in the preceding energy. The natural order of the zodiacal process follows an alternating pattern of yang (action) and yin (assimilation). This pattern never alters as energy flows. It is immutable.

Now, we are at the threshold of a shift into YANG energy; active, initiatory, exploratory, and moving out from the center of the soul. The assimilative process is complete. Pluto has shifted into Aquarius, the energy of the future. Neptune is shifting into Aries, the energy of active initiation, even birth. Uranus is shifting into Gemini, the realm of connection, ideas, communication, and investigation. These planets, now moving into powerful assertive energies have joined forces energetically, and, together, they are ready to chart a new course for humanity. If, that is, humanity rises to the challenge to step outside the box, throw away the rulebook, and create a whole new way of being. Exciting to think!

What can we expect in terms of eventuality over the course of, at a minimum, the next 7 years… (the duration of the movement through Gemini by the planet Uranus)? To get a clearer response to that question it is useful to review the events that occurred historically when these three planets last moved through the energies in question.

Let’s look at one of these planets, PLUTO. It has the longest ‘travel time’ of the three in question, and it can demonstrate a general starting point as we try to unravel what the heck is going on.

The last time Pluto was at this point in terms of his transit through the 12 signs of the zodiac was in the late 1700’s.  During that very unsettled time, the greatest power that the globe has ever seen, the United States of America, was ‘born’. 1776 was the start of the Revolutionary War. This rebellion led by a handful of very young dissidents, (the British Crown called them terrorists), eventually led to the establishment of a heroic idea, no matter what you might think of the U.S. of today. This heroic idea was that ALL men are created equal and have the right to pursue sovereignty. Following is a small part of the declaration that was formalized in 1776:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.—That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed,—That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.”

 

The above declaration was formulated when Pluto was at the end of his transit through Capricorn. The energy of Capricorn is all about the status quo, the ruling power, that which governs over others. Some of the colonists had become angered and disillusioned by what they considered were unfair levies that they had to submit to the British Crown on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. They were done with what they thought was oppressive, unfair rule by a government that did not respond to their requests for EQUITY. They considered that they were the providers of resources for a government that was robbing them of fair return. Pluto was at work to dig up and uncover the evils of oppressive rule, it would seem.

After the end of the Revolutionary War in 1784, the newly ‘freed’ colonists began to draft the CONSTITUTION of the United States, (at that time 13 separate colonies). This document was ratified in 1789 with 9 of the 13 colonies (states) in agreement. By this time, Pluto was almost 2/3 of the way through the energy of Aquarius, the energy of freedom, visionary thinking, the future, collectivism and, I would emphasize, the era of the common man. It had taken time and the input of multiple collaborators to concretize into a written document the ideas that these young men wanted to enshrine into law. The emphasis of this document was on sovereignty and freedom. Along with the original Declaration of Independence, these documents serve as signatories of a new way of engaging in self-governance, with an emphasis on the rights of the individual within the context of a social order. This seminal event in human history demonstrates how the force of Pluto can interact with the greater collective. An old order was removed, and a completely new order was initiated, or, at the very least, a heroic attempt to do so was undertaken.

What is particularly interesting is that at this pivotal time, Neptune was transiting Libra, the polarity energy to Aries while Uranus had just moved into Leo, the polarity energy to Aquarius. Very similar interrelationships were at play.

Consider now that Neptune was moving through Libra. This emphasized the urge to create harmony, unity and high ideals, as opposed to our time with Neptune newly entered into Aries. Rather than seeking to compromise and negotiate to arrive at a satisfactory solution, our time is fueled by a deep need to ‘start over’, to throw away the old rulebook and try something radically different. Aries looks to that which has not yet been attempted. It seeks the unknown and wants to find the next frontier. It is ‘cowboy’ energy, self-reliant, bold, courageous, and unafraid to venture into uncharted territory. It promises to provide that which cannot be defined because it has not yet been found. Kind of feels like that at this moment in time, doesn’t it?

Today, rather, than the energy of Leo, Uranus is about to enter Gemini. New ideas may suddenly arise. The way we communicate and connect may alter in ways we cannot imagine. We might suddenly have access to data and information that could radically affect how we think and reason. Everything is on the table in terms of cross-connection, new ideas, and patterns that will, possibly, change the nature of our global societies forever.

It has happened before. Nations have risen; nations have fallen; ideas have been born that have shaken the very foundations of existing societies; the cycle of time inexorably moves along.

So, as we inevitably move along the timeline, which is actually more like a spiral than a line, we must be prepared to align to the most positive aspects of the energies that are currently in play. Be open to new perspectives. Be willing to consider alternative points of view. Develop your ideas by listening carefully to all voices. Do not engage in cancel culture. If an idea is rotten, it will NOT stand the test of time. However, if you choose to suppress an idea it will worm its way into the collective psyche and possibly in an even more harmful fashion. Be bold as you experiment with new ways of being. And always, seek the truth. Truth is not relative. It is absolute. If you are uncertain if something is true or real, consider NATURAL LAW. The longest lasting element in our reality is the natural world. The systems that order it have sustained it. Find truth by observing nature. It will not fail you.
